What’s up Sam’s Fans!
So much is going on over here at the SFHQ! All kinds of important meetings happening, giving away ukuleles, planning events all that good stuff but there were a couple fun things that we got to do this past month that I thought we definitely worth a blog post.
First was the #AngelsRockOhio rock painting event. I had not heard of this before but there is this whole fun movement where if you find a painted rock and take a photo and post it to Facebook, and rehide you can kind of follow it all over the place. There are all kinds of different “rock groups” in different cities that do this. A new Sam’s Fan, Denise Shah decided to start a new group and host a rock painting party. She called it #AngelsRockOhio and hopes to raise funds and awareness for two charities, The Isabella Santos Foundation and Sam’s Fans. The event was held at Picassos and drew a really fun crowd of kiddos and parents. We had a small raffle and sold tickets and took donations all while having a fun creative day! Here are a few pics from the event. All these rocks will be hidden around Columbus and Upper Arlington so if you find one be sure to post it on their Facebook Page!
I also got to visit with two of our younger Sam’s Fans this weekend at the same party! They came to paint rocks but also to make a very special donation. Over this past summer my friends Emma(10) and Mary(6) hosted a lemonade stand. Over the course of the summer they were able to raise $277 for Sam’s Fans!!! What a great job these young philanthropists are doing to help other kids. Emma and I talked for a while and she told me that “some people were going to give $10 but when I told them more about Sam’s Fans and what it means they usually ended up giving $20”!! Well there you go!! That is how you do it! Already a Sam’s Fans Ambassador at age 10. I can’t wait to see what this girl does when she gets a little older! Thank you to both Emma and Mary for being so passionate and generous and thank you to there parents Michelle and William for raising such awesome human beings!
I am constantly humbled by the generosity of friends and strangers and I am grateful beyond measure!
Speaking of that, you all slayed The Big Give! Over the course of 26 hours you raised $10477 for Sam’s Fans!!! That is incredible and I have no words other than The Big THANK YOU!!!
Last but not least on our thank you roll call we give a huge shout out to Mike Dawson! For Mike’s most recent birthday he used Facebook to do a crowdsourcing fundraiser for Sam’s Fans and promised to match all the donations! He crushed his original goal and matched $3000 donating an unbelievable total of $6000 to Sam’s Fans. Thank you to each and every one of you that donated to Mike for his birthday and thank you Mike for doing your part to spread our message of hope and healing!
An update on THREAD of Hope is coming soon!
We love you Sam’s Fans and keep being awesome!
