Busy day for Sam’s Fans

You guys!  It was another busy weekend over here at Sam’s Fans and I just have to share!  Our day started at Colin’s Coffee with the second annual Sam’s Fans Day at CC!  So many fans came out to register for the race, pick up their yard signs, donate, and learn about Sam’s Fans!  The kids came through again getting the shop ready the night before

Our friend and Raygan from Picasso’s Art Studio did this amazing art on the window of the shop to help promote too!

And then just a steady stream of friends and neighbors came in and we got to talk about our mission all day long!  Thank you again to Colin and Erin for embracing the cause and helping us share with our community.  My heart is so full!  It is hard to put into words how grateful I am!   We raised enough money too cover one month of an artist in residence at Akron Children’s Hospital OR 20 hours of music therapy in the hospital… all in one day!  Way to go Sam’s Fans!!

You would think that was enough but they day didn’t stop there!  I attended the Flying Horse Farms Campfire event last night and WOW!  All I can say is #goals!

It takes  a lot for this girl to cry in public (that’s a lie) but these brave campers and parents who spoke had me reduced to a puddle of tears. Oh and when campers and their siblings sing Fight Song, well, that you can just imagine what I looked like!   I have been to camp to visit but their stories about why they love it and what it means to them is the real deal. It is because they get to be surrounded by their peers who just “get it” and parents feel like their kids can just be kids for that week and not patients.  All of those things were things important to Sam and while we never got to attend camp I feel like our goals are similar which is why I am super excited to announce that we have donated to Flying Horse Farms and will be a small part of their programming this summer!!!  Yipppeee!!  Our funds will be supporting a spotlight specialist who will work with the younger campers on learning a camp song each week and performing it at closing campfire!  How cool is that!  I hope some day we get to hear that song live!!!  Not only that but they will be having a music therapist develop and implement a program during one of their family camps!  So in short… we are making **it happen!!

Oh and then O.A.R. played!  So yeah it was a great night and then this…

so in short… a great day!
